The 5 Hair Colour Trends to Expect SS20
Hair colour trends can come and go and it’s hard to know which ones will stick. Lily the Editor of our Magazine, speaks to colour experts Acer & Liz from the Brighton store, to help you get ahead of the curve for the SS20 trends
Bronde Hair Colour
The perfect blend of both brown and blonde. Ideal for those wanting to have a much warmer tone running through their hair but who aren’t willing to go full brunette. The best way to achieve a glowly natural look is to adapt a freehand technique with balayage or a root drag.
We love Khloe Kardashians Ashy Bronde, especially styles in a wet look!
The best thing about this hair colour is that it suits so many skin tones and hair types… Jackie Aina shows us how glam this colour is on her natural curls.
We recommend: NXT Permanent Colour 8-1, Light Ash Blonde.
Ginger Brunette
For those that are wanting to add a bit of spice (girls) to their life. A toasted ginger colour pops on warm skin tones. Whilst this hair colour might be a big change for some, it is one that will good through all seasons. This take on a fiery red looks especially striking medium and dark skin tones. When selecting your perfect shade, think along the lines of golden red, deep copper, and gorgeous auburn hues. Isla Fisher shows us how to rock this look….
We recommend: NXT Permanent Colour 6-4, Dark Copper Blonde and NXT Permanent Colour 7-75, Medium Rich Blonde.
Blushed Chocolate Brown
For something a little different, and perhaps for those who prefer a more subtle change, this dreamy way to tweak brown strands is set to be popular in 2020. Almost a rose gold, the rich colour painted over deep brown has an autumnal vibe at first glance, but it's actually meant to give brunettes a sun-kissed appearance. The best thing about this colour is that you can up the ‘blush’ as much as your clients wish, the colour is very buildable!
We recommend: Pulp Riot, Rose Gold Toner.
Caramel Brown Hair Colour
Burnt caramel is a classic and is one that will never fade. Its low maintenance and slightly moodier that it’s blushed cousin. Caramel brown hair is perfect cocktail mix of warm browns and golden blonde. The colours can be deeper or lighter, but all variations of the colour scheme are warm and delicious.
We recommend: NXT Permanent Colour 8-003, Warm Light Blonde.
Strawberry Brown Hair
Intense, rich and bold. Say hello to the coolest brunette colour to grace 2020. Give some intensity to your dark brown base colour with a deep strawberry red. This hair colour suits so many styling variations too… from the ever so classic lob to long and wavy. For those clients who want to try this as a semi-permanent colour first, we love Pulp Riot Fireball, which fades out beautifully too.
We recommend: NXT Permanent Colour 7-62, Medium Red Violet Blonde.
Haircare
Anytime you make a hair colour change, it’s important to switch up your hair care routine in an effort to help preserve the colour and keep your hair feeling soft and looking shiny. The aftercare is just as important for a flawless, luminous finish. Keep your clients colour fresh with Wella Colour Motion Shampoo, to help lock in colour while preserving hair’s smoothness and shine. To strengthen the hair structure we love Wella Colour Motion Post Colour Treatment – the ultimate luxury treatment for your locks. For your daily dose of goodness we recommend IQ Intense Moisture Shampoo.

Vegan and Cruelty-Free Hair and Beauty: Simple Swaps and Recommendations for Veganuary
The new year often brings a sense of renewal, self-improvement and positive change. For many, this means reducing the consumption of animal products and embracing a more compassionate lifestyle. As hair and beauty professionals, we can support and promote this growing movement by embracing vegan and cruelty-free options. However, transitioning to fully vegan products may initially seem daunting. This is why, in this post, we will explore some simple swaps you can try in January that are still highly effective and recommendations for vegan styling products and treatments to expand your offerings this Veganuary. We aim to make embracing ethical beauty approachable and attainable so you can focus on what matters most - caring for your clients with confidence and care.
Simple swaps this Veganuary
Start Small: It can be overwhelming to transition to fully vegan products overnight. One simple swap you can make is changing your hair brushes and combs to those made from natural materials such as bamboo (link to bamboo page) or wood. Not only are these products sustainable and eco-friendly, but they also help reduce static hair and promote healthy shine. Another easy swap for your salon or personal use is choosing cruelty-free and vegan nail polishes from brands like The Manicure Company. Ethically made and with an unwavering commitment to being a vegan and cruelty-free brand, Zero Gel Polish is widely available at our stores and comes in a vast array of colours. These small changes can make a big difference
