Mother's Day in your salon
With Mother’s Day right round the corner, now is the perfect time to put together your Mother’s Day packages, display gift-worthy retail products and promote what’s going on in your salon.Salon Retail
Stock items that will appeal to your clients as great gifts for Mother's Day. Always remember, eye level is buy level. Display all retail products in clear view, neatly with labels facing outwards. Use salon signage to promote them, saying something like ‘ideal gifts for Mother’s Day’ or ‘Gifts your mum will love.’
Create gift bags by grouping together several products in attractive packaging. For example, hand cream cuticle oil and a nail polish. Read more on how to sell more retail products.
Don’t forget to promote your gift cards in your salon, marketing materials and social media. They are a simple but effective way for clients to treat their mums while giving them a choice of treatments. They are also upfront payment for you so make sure you stock plenty and keep a stack in clear view where you take payment, as well as promoting them on your website and social media.
Marketing
Don’t just run Mother’s Day promotions on the 26th March, celebrate the occasion all month to make the most of this lucrative event. Email your client database to let them know what’s going on and that your salon’s a one-stop-shop to get everything they need to spoil their mum.
On all marketing materials and social media, use language to tempt buyers with a focus on pampering, spoiling, indulgence, relaxation and luxury.
Promote your Mother’s Day treatments and retail products on social media, but to avoid constant selling irritating your followers, also post content that would interest them, such as pictures of retro hair styles or getting them involved by sharing memories of their mums or with a competition to win a free/discounted Mother’s Day treatment. Keep it lighthearted and engaging. Don’t forget to also advertise what’s going on in your salon on your windows, as well as your website, email marketing and flyers.
If your client base is predominantly women, consider partnering up with a local business with male clients, but not one of your competitors. For example, a nail salon could partner up with a barbers. This way, you can promote each other’s offers in salon and on social media.

Vegan and Cruelty-Free Hair and Beauty: Simple Swaps and Recommendations for Veganuary
The new year often brings a sense of renewal, self-improvement and positive change. For many, this means reducing the consumption of animal products and embracing a more compassionate lifestyle. As hair and beauty professionals, we can support and promote this growing movement by embracing vegan and cruelty-free options. However, transitioning to fully vegan products may initially seem daunting. This is why, in this post, we will explore some simple swaps you can try in January that are still highly effective and recommendations for vegan styling products and treatments to expand your offerings this Veganuary. We aim to make embracing ethical beauty approachable and attainable so you can focus on what matters most - caring for your clients with confidence and care.
Simple swaps this Veganuary
Start Small: It can be overwhelming to transition to fully vegan products overnight. One simple swap you can make is changing your hair brushes and combs to those made from natural materials such as bamboo (link to bamboo page) or wood. Not only are these products sustainable and eco-friendly, but they also help reduce static hair and promote healthy shine. Another easy swap for your salon or personal use is choosing cruelty-free and vegan nail polishes from brands like The Manicure Company. Ethically made and with an unwavering commitment to being a vegan and cruelty-free brand, Zero Gel Polish is widely available at our stores and comes in a vast array of colours. These small changes can make a big difference
