Three fab texture trends by Carly Aplin!
This week we’re handing the blog over to the lovely Carly Aplin – pictured below – from award-winning salon group Westrow. Here she shares her tips on her top three Summer hairstyles that are all about texture.Scalp braids
Summer is most definitely the time for plaits, but I’m looking forward to seeing festival-goers embrace their adventurous side and sport the new season scalp braids. Rita Ora recently showcased plaits accessorised with pearls, adding an elegant touch to the coolest festival style but, if this is too much for some, a fishtail plait is the perfect, softer alternative. My favourite is the undone version, worn by Blake Lively.
Capital tip: Another way to play with this look is to crimp the hair before plaiting it – it will leave your client’s hair with texture like they’ve never seen before!
Textured lob
It’s time for your clients to wave goodbye to long, flowing locks, as Summer 2015 is all about the textured lob (long bob). Kylie Jenner was one of the first celebrities to start the trend but it’s her sister Kim Kardashian, who’s really working the trend and showing off brilliant texture and movement. The wavy look really sets off this style, and is even more wearable on ‘second day hair’.
Capital tip: Depending on hair length, there are a ton of different products you can play with when it comes to giving your clients the texture they crave; there are some great waxes, clays and powders out there.
Salty waves
One of the hottest hair looks for the Summer festival season is a dishevelled wave. Begin by curling hair with a large barrelled curling tong to create perfect voluminous waves, and then fix with L’Oréal Professionnel Wild Stylers Beach Waves Texturising Salt Spray. For an undone finish, tease the hair with fingertips to add texture to the hair lengths.
Capital tip: Check out our range of salt sprays and electricals to ensure you have all the products you need to give your client her favourite Summer look.
We think the texture trend is perfect for any hair length; more is more!
