How To Grow Eyelashes: The Lash Growth Cycle Explained

Great lashes take time — and understanding the natural lash growth cycle can help you set realistic expectations with your clients.

Every eyelash moves through its own cycle of growth, transition and rest. Unlike the hair on your head, lashes have a relatively short active growth period, and they don’t all grow at the same time. This is why consistency is key when it comes to supporting longer, fuller-looking lashes.

Anagen: The Growth Phase

This is when the lash is actively growing and getting longer. The anagen phase typically lasts around 4–10 weeks. A consistent lash routine is particularly important as different lashes enter this stage at different times.

Catagen: The Transition Phase

Next, the lash stops actively growing and the follicle begins transitioning into its resting phase. The existing lash remains in place, making gentle lash care important throughout the entire cycle.

Telogen: The Resting Phase

Finally, the lash enters its longest phase: rest. Around half of the lash follicles may be in this stage at any one time, which helps explain why lash growth is gradual rather than an overnight transformation.

Where Does Lash Serum Come In?

A consistent lash serum routine works alongside the natural lash cycle. UKLASH Eyelash Serum is designed to support the appearance of longer, fuller and healthier-looking natural lashes, with visible results typically seen around weeks 4–12.

Apply one stroke along the upper lash line once daily — consistency, not more product, is key.

The Takeaway

You can’t rush the natural lash cycle, but you can work with it. A consistent routine, gentle lash care and the right products can help your clients get the most from their natural lashes.
