Tenniscore: The Tennis Trend Taking Over This Summer 2024
Last year #Barbiecore took over our social media feeds but this year they’re looking a lot less pink! Since the release of Zendaya’s latest Challengers movie, everyone is loving her method dressing for the red carpet. And like all things Zendaya, it has inspired a wealth of amazing nail designs.
#tenniscore
The elegance of classic tennis attire inspires the #tenniscore trend. Think preppy polo tops and crisp cottons, to quintessential tennis whites. The sporty nails trend has inspired people to play with their fashion and accessories, including replicating Zendaya’s own white stilettos with tennis balls attached to the heels. An easy way to join the trend is via nail art.
One thing that makes this trend a little different is that it takes inspiration from a sport. This means that the nails we're seeing are usually short and soft with a squoval shape, making them practical and easy to wear. It needs to be a style that Zendaya’s character, Tashi Duncan, could wear on the tennis court.
Elegant options
The cleanest way to play with this trend is to update the classic French manicure or a micro French tip with a colour switch. So instead of white tips, try tennis ball neon yellow or green. Apparently Zendaya has adopted a style she calls 'Fancy French', which is a white-tipped manicure with a chrome finish.
For a more impactful appearance, use cool colours on your nails then finish with a shiny topcoat in gold or silver. This will give your nails a trophy-worthy finish and is the perfect option for those with shorter nails too.
Wimbledon nail inspo
For clients who want a full-on tennis nail art, think about colour combinations of yellow, green, white and blue nail polishes. Take inspiration from the patterns of the rackets, to the nets, to the white lines of the tennis ball. Even well-known sports brand logos, such as the Nike swoosh or the Adidas three-leaf-shaped design are classics that people will recognise.
Even the tennis court lines can look stunning when recreated with a steady hand! With Wimbledon in July, this trend is here to stay for a little while longer.
Where to find #tenniscore nail inspo
Pinterest has a useful search feature for trends. You can also search by skintone to find the best color options for different skin tones. For video tutorials, TikTok is your best option. Simply type tenniscore and nails and you’ll find tons of videos, including how to add a fluffy, tennis ball-like top coat.
