Bridal beauty basics

Bride model In our latest issue of Capital Hair and Beauty magazine, (due out in just a few weeks!) we discuss the trends and tips that are essential for any hair and beauty pro expecting to work on weddings over the coming months. Spring is a time of renewal, which means it’s the perfect time to refresh your techniques and be aware of fashion and high street trends that might affect your bride’s choices. But no matter how your trend awareness shapes up, the most important thing when it comes to a bride, has to be the initial consultation.

When you first meet your bride, this is your opportunity to really get to know her, find out what she wants. Yes, you might have your favourite looks that are always a ‘winner’, but each bride is an individual, and in today’s bridal market, it’s almost a case of anything goes! One day you could be working with a classic bride, the next a rockabilly fan that demands lashes and red lips – you might even be lucky enough to work with an Asian bride, creating multiple looks!

Have a chat with your bride – don’t just ask her about the wedding; find out what she loves to wear everyday. Her fashion and make-up choices will help you shape her look for the big day. When it’s time to discuss the day itself, find out if she’s planning on wearing accessories, a veil, what kind of dress she’s wearing – you can never ask too many questions. Never feel that you’re being nosy; it’s this attention to detail that will not only help your bride stand out in all the right ways – it will also help your work stand out when it comes to those photographs, which should hopefully end up on your website or blog, and encourage more bookings!

For the full story, with bridal tips and tricks from hair and beauty experts, don’t forget to pop into your nearest Capital store for your copy of our Spring magazine, out late February.
