Beetlejuice Nails
Learn the latest salon techniques, designed to save time and give your clients quick, effective results!
To celebrate Halloween, we're embracing all things spooky! And what better way to do that than with a set of wacky nails inspired by the film Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.
We caught up with Emma, a home-based nail artist, to create some stylish Beetlejuice-inspired nails using The Manicure Company’s Good Vibes Only Collection. She also shared how she created the look and got into nail artistry. If you want to try something brighter and bolder this Halloween, check out Emma’s creation!
A bit about Emma and Secondhand Nailart
Emma’s designs range from mini mice holding olives painted onto thumbs to full landscape artistry across all fingers. We asked what fuelled her passion for nail art, and she said:
“I started creating nails back in the pandemic when we were all trying to figure out what to do with our spare time. I thought I’d try my luck at drawing. I fell in love with the freedom to create such tiny works of art on a small canvas, so I decided to make it a career.”With five years of experience, her cosy home studio in Godalming, Surrey, UK, continues to grow from strength to strength.
Emma’s designs are vast, but when asked for her favourite, she said:
“My personal favourites are food-based and creature designs. I’ve created many pet portrait nails, and I could do those all day long. I love seeing my clients' fur babies getting the recognition they deserve.”As a pug mother, Emma has two fur babies named Stevie and Luna.
At the end of your appointment, she offers a special touch of “Pug love” where you can pet her prized pugs to get a boost of oxytocin.Emma is currently taking on new clients and is dedicated to bringing all of their nail art dreams to life!
Here’s a sneak peek inside her home studio
Emma’s Step-by-Step Halloween Beetlejuice Nails
What you’ll need:
· The Manicure Company’s Good Vibes Only collection
· Dotting tool
· Fine line art brush
· Sponge
1. Base: Ride or Die. Design: Use your fine liner brush to create a swirl effect.
2. Base: Ride or Die. Design: Start with Aspire & Inspire, then blend in Now or Never to create a gradient ombré. Use a dotting tool and fine liner brush for the drip effect.
3. Base: Aspire & Inspire with Ride or Die sponged over for a tie-dye effect. Design: Use Positive Energy, topped with Now or Never for the lines.
4. Base: Ride or Die topped with I’m Doing Me. Design: Create the beetles using Aspire & Inspire polish with a dotting tool.
Emma’s top tips
1. Before using the fine line tool, make sure the bristles are snipped at the end for a more precise line and finish.
2. Use dry mini beauty blender sponges to get a tie dye or ombre effect
3. Layering and mixing shades is a great way to get your own custom colours! Try this to get the perfect shade you need.
Emma says, “These aren’t your typical dark Beetlejuice colours, but more of a fun and colourful approach for those who want to be spooky but still cute.”
