The trends to nail this season - Spring/Summer 2015

Negative space nail design If you haven’t got your copy of our Spring magazine yet (why not?) then you’re missing out on our mega feature on the SS15 cut, colour, style and nail trends to watch. But we forgive you, we know how hard you’re working, so here’s a small, compact version of what the experts had to say about SS15 nails.

The two major trends that our nail experts picked out for SS15 were Negative Space and Nudes. The negative space manicure is fast becoming a favourite on the catwalk and on the street, so it's vital you update your artwork to accommodate clients who lust after this look.

Rachel Gribble, Salon System Educator, explains: "The negative space mani is an incredibly versatile design, where un-coloured nail peeps through bold colour; it was seen in all shapes and sizes on the runway."

If you're looking for inspiration, check out Instagram and Tumblr for a wealth of looks, from a simple negative space love heart to a more intricate Pop Art style.

Nudes are always in season, but never before have we seen such an array of nude; we now have a tone that suits every skin colour. The main thing to consider is whether your client's skin tone is warm or cool, and if they want their nude to complement, or contrast against it. Our fave way to play with nude? A slick of gold metallic and some crisp white in a geometric design – check out our Instagram to see what we mean!
