Autumn Nail Trends

With new nail colour collections arriving from OPI, The Manicure Company and Gellux, this is the season to play! Read on to find out the latest trends from the industry leaders.

SWIRLS AHEAD

“I definitely think waves and swirls will still be on-trend, but they’ll be coming through with more muted colours, such as nudes and browns. I can see dark purple coming back in too! In terms of shapes, the almond is still a classic but more clients want to experiment with a natural square or a narrow square. It definitely gives female boss energy! Chromes are also coming back, especially via more abstract styles.”

“More men will be headed to the salon for designs that reflect their personality and you can expect to see more nail brands and techs embracing genderless options.” Jess Young, founder of @boysinpolish

Pastels are all the rage right now, alongside multi-colour nails and the use of gold leaf. We’ve seen a  lot of clients embracing pops of colour and swirl patterns for the summer and I think this will continue.” Katie Godfrey @kgsalon_bartonleclay

“The 70’s trends are here to stay, and I’m so here for it! Swirls, waves and colourful French tips will continue to prove popular for Autumn through to Winter but the pastel shades will be swapped out for burnt oranges, mustard yellows, olive greens and strong royal blues. Short squovals or mid-length almonds will be on the most wanted list when it comes to shape and length.” Salon System GELLUX Ambassador, Jaz Moger @paintbyjaz

FOCUS ON: GELLUX
Now with colour-filled caps, the new Gellux collection Without Limits offers the ultimate mix of bold and powerful colours. Featuring deep blues to luxurious berries, the collection was developed in collaboration with celebrity nail artist, Karen Louise, marking a first for Gellux. Karen Louise selected shades and names that represented this power move: “I looked at colours that were bold, and that I felt strong and confident women would wear. I also looked at colours that would work with all skin tones, because that’s so important to me.”

CARAMEL VIBES
“For autumn, classic warm and deep shades will be making a comeback. Think beautiful oxblood tones, rich caramels and deep browns accented with plenty of metallics and glitter in gold and bronze hues. “On the nail art front, the trend of graphic lines and negative spaces will gain momentum and I think these trends will work so beautifully with the deeper tones we’re loving. Contrasting finishes are always popular this time of year, with matte backgrounds adorned with glossy stripes and glimmering glitters. Personally, Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons for nail shades and I can’t wait to launch the latest The Manicure Company gel polish collection.” Eoin Cotter, Creative Director at The Manicure Company

NEW FROM OPI
The new Downtown Los Angeles collection from OPI offers 12 new limited-edition shades matched in GelColor, Infinite Shine and Nail Lacquer, meaning more options for everyone. Inspired by the city that never sleeps, the collection celebrates classic charm mixed with modern street style and contemporary art. From the resulting collection our favourite shades include the stunning Abstract After Dark, a beautiful deep and sparkling blue that’s reminiscent of the LA skyline at night – and we also love the gorgeous, shimmering opaque of Metallic Composition; a suits-all pink/nude tone.
