How to master the latest Autumn Nail trends!

Nailing it can be hard. Especially if you are coming into your first autumnal season as a freelance nail technician. However, no one knows more about nail trends than our Training Executive Rosie. Here she looks at the different autumn nail trends and how to achieve them using our fantastic range of products.

What are the autumn nail polish trends?

Nudes & Greys

If your clients love a simple and understated look, glossy nude nails should be their go-to this season. Spotted on the catwalk at Carolina Herrera AW19, this classy and chic look is easy to achieve and super on-trend.

Accent Tips

Switch up the traditional French Manicure white tips this season and opt for a gold accent tip instead to give your client’s manicure a luxe feel. We’ve already seen this trend all over Instagram this season, and we particularly love this gorgeous ‘Dipped in Gold’ design by Dry By London.

Oranges & Browns

Oranges, browns, rusts and beiges are traditionally associated with autumn, so why not suggest a warm autumnal palette of colour for your clients who love to match their manicure to the season.

Cut Out Designs

Another trend clients are loving this season is similar to the accent tips, but even more extra! Try a ‘cut out’ design for the ultimate graphic cool. We love the design and colour choice of this amazing set of nails by Tips Nail Bar (@tipsnailbar).

Halloween Inspired

Maybe the most obvious of the autumn nail trends: Halloween nails. With the spookiest day of the year fast approaching, give your client’s manicure a terrifying twist. The design possibilities are endless - ranging from spider webs and pumpkins, to ghosts and witches.

How to achieve our two favourite designs

Our two favourite trends for autumn are not only set to be requested by everyone over the coming weeks, but they’re also quick and easy to achieve.

Our top pick for this season, Oranges & Browns, has been perfectly turned into an autumn manicure by @njmnailstylist on Instagram. Recreate this look by applying two coats of the chosen gel polish to each nail, and finishing with a super shiny top coat. Don’t forget, gel polish can be applied to both the natural nail and on top of acrylic nails too.

Our second favourite trend is, of course, Halloween nails (prepare for a lot of requests for these!). We can’t get enough of this ghostly set of nails created by @nailartbysig. If nail art isn’t your strongest point, this simple design is still easy to recreate. Start off with a clear base coat, apply white gel polish in a curvy shape using a nail art brush, and add the eyes using a nail art tool and black gel polish. Finish with a matte or shiny top coat depending on what your client prefers.

What training is available?

If you’re new to the industry, want to refresh your skills or simply need a confidence boost, there’s loads of options out there for all budgets and skill levels. If you want to go straight into a salon environment, why not consider an apprenticeship? Or, if you prefer to be classroom based, think about enrolling on an NVQ course at your local college.

Alternatively, Capital offer a huge range of short courses. From our 1 Day Gel Polish Workshop to our 5 Day Complete Nail Technician course, you can train in manicures, acrylic extensions, hard gel, nail art and everything in between! Charlotte, who completed our The Manicure Company Gel Workshop said, ‘I arrived feeling a little unsure of what to expect as I am a complete beginner, and honestly felt like I learnt a lot and gained a lot of confidence. Thank you for kick starting my new venture!’

There are so many great nail trends to try this autumn. From the classic nude to a bold, bright orange, give your clients a seasonal, on-trend set of nails they’ll want to show off. Come the end of November it’ll be time to bring out the reds and glitters in preparation for Christmas, so make the most of these fun and fabulous autumnal designs whilst you still can! And don’t be put off if you’re new to the nail industry, because if you enroll on one of our short courses today you’ll be trained, qualified and ready to get to work in time to try at least a few of our favourite trends!
