The Scrummi story — questioning the everyday
Scrummi began with a simple question.
In 2008, founder Rob Cooper was speaking with a salon owner when the conversation turned to something every salon deals with, but few people think about. Towels. Not the styling. Not the colour. The laundry — towels moving constantly through washing machines and dryers, staff folding between appointments, cupboards filling, energy bills quietly rising. It was just how things were done. But Rob grew up around textiles, and to him it looked like a system no one had properly questioned. What if the towel did not need to be washed at all? (Someone had to ask.)
Over the next eighteen months, Rob worked with salon owners to create an alternative — prototypes tested in real salons, during real working days, until the balance of performance, convenience and sustainability felt right. In 2010, the first Scrummi towel launched in the UK.
What began as one product for hair salons has grown into a wider range spanning hair, beauty and everyday routines, trusted by thousands of professionals internationally. On average, teams save 2.2 hours every day once laundry disappears from the routine. (Trust us, we did the maths.)
