Hours: 37.5

Monday - Friday

Salary: circa £45,000 - £50,000

Role Profile

Join us as Category Manager where you’ll lead the strategy, maximising sales and profitability in the hair category of our business. Your expertise will shape our product offerings and enhance customer engagement ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager and leading our Category team, which includes 5 support roles, your responsibilities will include assortment management, supplier relations, and analysing customer behaviour to drive growth in the category.

Responsibilities include:

  • analysing sales data and consumer behaviour to understand market dynamics and identify areas for improvement.
  • developing long-term plans for the product category, considering market trends, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • building relationships and negotiating prices and terms with suppliers
  • developing and executing promotional campaigns to drive sales, such as discounts, added value promotions, and in-store displays.
  • collaborating with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to the hair category
  • providing a monthly category performance update to management and key stakeholders.
  • Optimising and maintaining sock availability, managing excess and clearance to maintain stock in trade

To achieve success in this role, you will have:

  • previous buying/merchandising experience
  • knowledge of the hair / beauty industry
  • previous proven experience in managing and developing a team
  • good attention to detail, high level of accuracy, ability to multitask
  • strong communication and influencing skills
  • strong analytical & numeracy skills
  • experience in supplier negotiations
  • a flexible and adaptable “can-do” attitude
